Kolkata was named after this temple and chiefly because of this fact, hundreds of visitors are fascinated by this temple every day. A classic showcase of Kolkata itself, the temple is a heady mix of dirt, crowds and spirituality. Kalighat is a mad, smelly, dirty, wonderful, vibrant, crazy place that is really like the beating heart of this city of poets and dreamers. If you love Kolkata, you'll love Kalighat. Every year, goats and other harmless animals are sacrificed to please the mighty goddess Kali. Even when she is pleased, you are not forgiven the long wait to get a glimpse of the deity.

Leaving the spiritual aspects aside, This place is here to steal money from you directly or indirectly. If you don't believe me you may visit there personally. The government should interfere in the management and take control on it and can make the place better........

One of the most religiously significant and historic landmarks of Eastern India. Great place and indeed a very holy one. Had a good experience barring the cheap policy of commercialising everything out there(by the temple people like priests and sometimes also by locals).
Goddess Kali is loving mother, I bow down on her lotus feet,. But I feel bad when so called pandas and even shopkeepers trying to cheat the innocent devotee. Please be aware of pandas and brokers, they will spoil your darshana. Need to maintain the cleanliness in and around temple to keep it purity intact.
Kalighat Kali Temple is most popular Kali Temple and is very popular. You will find this place very peaceful and devotional. But the bad about this place is that it is very slippery and you always have to take care of your steps. Also please beware of Pandas and touts.
