About Kalighat Kali Temple, Kolkata
Kolkata was named after this temple and chiefly because of this fact, hundreds of visitors are fascinated by this temple every day. A classic showcase of Kolkata itself, the temple is a heady mix of dirt, crowds and spirituality. Kalighat is a mad, smelly, dirty, wonderful, vibrant, crazy place that is really like the beating heart of this city of poets and dreamers. If you love Kolkata, you'll love Kalighat. Every year, goats and other harmless animals are sacrificed to please the mighty goddess Kali. Even when she is pleased, you are not forgiven the long wait to get a glimpse of the deity.

Kalighat Kali Temple, Kolkata Reviews
Most famous Kali temple in West Bengal. The place is crowded all the time. A great spiritual place where one can find many Pandits and Sadhus. Also, tourists should be aware of some people who'll pretend to be helpful and try to extract money from them. The parking is free here. Also, one can find food joints, lodges and market nearby.
Hindu's sacred place. Cleanliness is an issue. Be careful with Pandas & Priests wandering there offering VIP darshan for money.
Can I give a minus score if so give at least -100. I would not advise any one to visit this Temple. It is excluding all the poor people. If u can’t afford to pay the so called priests push you away. If you end up paying the priest takes you by short cut and then abandons you. I will never visit this place again and ask people not to. Only by boycotting this Temple will some sense prevail and bring the true Sense that kali is worshipped for.
Kalighat is a very famous and a historical temple, devotees from all over India visit this temple. Everyday there is huge crowd but temple management is extremely poor, you get to see lot of dirtiness immediately around temple. If you pay a little money to Panda (Pandit) there you can easily avoid long queues which is unfair and shows mismanagement of authority.
Divine the one word do describe the feeling of being here. Have been visiting since 36 years. Be careful not to be tricked by the pandas though.
