Kalighat Kali Temple - Review
Kolkata was named after this temple and chiefly because of this fact, hundreds of visitors are fascinated by this temple every day. A classic showcase of Kolkata itself, the temple is a heady mix of dirt, crowds and spirituality. Kalighat is a mad, smelly, dirty, wonderful, vibrant, crazy place that is really like the beating heart of this city of poets and dreamers. If you love Kolkata, you'll love Kalighat. Every year, goats and other harmless animals are sacrificed to please the mighty goddess Kali. Even when she is pleased, you are not forgiven the long wait to get a glimpse of the deity.

Kalighat Kali Temple, Kolkata Reviews
One of the most religiously significant and historic landmarks of Eastern India. Great place and indeed a very holy one. Had a good experience barring the cheap policy of commercialising everything out there(by the temple people like priests and sometimes also by locals).
Kalighat Kali Temple is most popular Kali Temple and is very popular. You will find this place very peaceful and devotional. But the bad about this place is that it is very slippery and you always have to take care of your steps. Also please beware of Pandas and touts.
Kali Temple is the most revered and worshipped place. The temple precincts have little order and cleanliness has taken a toll. The approach to the temple is badly congested by street hawkers and beggars which gives a wrong impression to outsiders. Lot of anti social activities and extortion from devotees happen. Safety is lacking in the surroundings and Pandas take you for a ride.
Totally commercial place. Even god will feel by the way people behave. They will tell vip entry and take you through normal way taking 50 RS per person. Not much crowd will be their but people will convince you that lot of queue. I feel bad for country as well as people. People are not good. Some good stuffs related to god are good. Apart from god worst experience.
My experience has been bad due to intentional mismanagement by Pandas. They intentionally shout to create panic among devotees and ask for money for darshan. Panda outside temple will cheat you through your skin.BEWARE of them. Buy everything by paying in advance . Don't get in their trap to pay later. No cloak room service to put your bag or shoes.
