About Kalighat Kali Temple, Kolkata
Kolkata was named after this temple and chiefly because of this fact, hundreds of visitors are fascinated by this temple every day. A classic showcase of Kolkata itself, the temple is a heady mix of dirt, crowds and spirituality. Kalighat is a mad, smelly, dirty, wonderful, vibrant, crazy place that is really like the beating heart of this city of poets and dreamers. If you love Kolkata, you'll love Kalighat. Every year, goats and other harmless animals are sacrificed to please the mighty goddess Kali. Even when she is pleased, you are not forgiven the long wait to get a glimpse of the deity.

The most sacred and holiest place to Hindus. An ideal temple to pay homage and devotion. Exceptionally good in all respect. Entry passage should be widened to facilitate the devotees free and ease access. "'BHOG" of Ma Kali is superb and praiseworthy. To get it, one should contact temple office.
A temple which stood the test of time, heavy bargaining skills required if you book a Panda(priest) as he takes you to the VIP lane inside the temple to touch the deity's feet else a long queue, flowers for any occasion available at reasonable price contact Sukhdev(Kali) +91 83358 24324. Do try their "peras" unique size and taste. Also parking lot is available.
It's awesome place.. Really heart touching... I went just for roaming.. Bt it take me in its heart... A real God's place... Go and feel the goddess kali.... Your dirty mind will change to a innocent mind... Thanking you
Horrible.. Sorry to say this but, i stay very near by this holy shrine since my birth and only thing i have seen that things getting worst. The Ally ways towards the temple is full of dirt all round the place. While nearing the temple so many pandas will be waiting to grab customers. There are three gates all are stacked with daali shops, uncountable beggers & stray dogs. If somehow you enter the mandir the ally ways inside are very narrow, slippery, muddy & full of bio-waste sometimes dog's excreta is also there. And since my childhood days I have never seen any change in this scene whatsoever. Only change visible is the lighting of the temple in night (which is of no use until the place gets a good look). On top of that inside is always very much crowded & beware of Pickpockets & mind your shoes.
Holy place. It's one of most local faith and religious place of Hindu. it's also in list of travelers with faith. TM
