Nehru Childrens Museum - Review

Nehru Children Museum is one of the few rare museums in the country that intends to rekindle the children’s interest in mythology and helps them to reconnect with their roots. The museum has been named after Jawaharlal Nehru, a political personality, an iconic teacher and children’s favourite and is well frequented by tourists every day. The place is divided into various archives with Dolls Gallery being the most popular one. It showcases numerous dolls from over 100 countries, all vibrant and varied reflecting their culture beautifully. To add to it, there is a Ganesh Gallery too with myriad idols of Ganesha adorning the place. As if that’s not enough, the museum is also home to The Ramayana and Mahabharata era models, taking instances from different sections of the story and updating you on the various events of that period. Since the museum is four floors long, it may take some time to see it all, nonetheless, this one of a kind museum is something that you will definitely love to visit with kids!

Nehru Childrens Museum, Kolkata Reviews

  • Nehru Children's Museum is a museum for children. It's entry fee: ₹-10 per person person under 16 years and ₹- 20 per person person 16 years. The museum has four floors of complete stimulating educative environment for children. The most loved archives here are the Dolls and Toys Gallery, and, the mythological epics like Mahabharata and Ramayana.

  • Doll museum is present there with dolls from so many countries. Also Indian mythology Mahabharata & Ramayana are displayed with dolls which is a kids attraction. This place offers so many courses such as drama, recitation, dancing for young kids. Courses are offered for 2yrs old kids also. Overall a very helpfull place for cultural upbringing of kids.

  • Since my childhood I like to go there. This is perfectly well decorated for children. A variety of dolls around the world is available here, as well as The Ramayana & The Mahabharata are found here alive made by dolls. Apart from that, it is a great cultural place for children. This is totally unique place for it's dolls world & live characters. I love this place.

  • This museum is for all ages! Loved the artistic skills of the doll makers. Depicts scenes and stories from Mahabharata and Ramayana. Also, various dress cultures and customs of people across the world shown here in the form of dolls.

  • Good place for children to see dolls and toys from different countries around the world . Especially the Mahabharata and Ramayana tales depicted through the figures. But over time the museum has lost its sheen. It needs some improvement and new exhibits.
