Lok Kawi Wildlife Park - Review
This is a huge wildlife park that is made up of two parts: the zoological and the botanical side. Among the many residents of the zoo are the Borneo Pygmy elephants, Sumatran rhinoceros, Orang Utan, Proboscis monkey, Malayan Tiger as well as a few species of deer. The botanical component offers visitors the chance to go jungle trekking along the botanical trail. The readily paved trail is approximately 1.4 kilometers long and the botanical component is about 200 acres in size. The aviary is a more lively section where you will hear myriads of sounds of the mynahs, greeting visitors who come to the park. At the aviary, there are many species of birds like the hornbill, pigeons, parrots, eagles, egrets and many more.
There is also a children's section of the zoo that has pygmy elephants, ponies and goats. Children can also enjoy elephant rides here.

Lok Kawi Wildlife Park, Kota Kinabalu Reviews
My last visit three years ago was more exciting since there were more animals around in this zoo. Elephants enclosure was closed down, tiger was alone with no one to play with, bears look malnourished. But, I am proud to see all the zoo staff worked hard to ensure this one and only zoo in Sabah remains open for public.
This place is absolutely horrible! The animals are kept in so little cages.. they are so skinny and stressed. The park should be shut down. Do not support this animal abuse!
Here you can see mostly local animals and few exotic animals. There is also botanical garden / area for plants manage by forestry department. Please bring umbrella because on sunny day it will be hot. Also dont forget to bring a drink bacause you have to take a little bit long walk about 1.4 km on paved track in the park. The animal show at 11am. Open 9.30am to 5.30pm. Ticket (Local) - RM10 for adult and RM5 for children. (Foreigner) RM20 for adult and RM10 for children. It is open on Public Holidays.
Animals are starved and chained. Shameful the people that run this place. This hell should be shut down. How do they pass humane guidelines??? They need to be strongly investigated.
Nice place to bring your family, get real experience to see the animal and they also got bird show and it was a nice performance!
