  • If you love being close to nature this is the place for you. We had an amazing time at Sukau Lodge. Everything was perfect. The scheduled activities, the guides, the wildlife sightings, etc... The staff were friendly and helpful. Meals were good. Accommodations we're excellent. Definitely pack insect repellent, a flashlight, and rain gear and prepare yourself for an amazing adventure where the wild things are.

  • Saw pygmy elephants, silver leaf monkeys, proboscis monkeys, orangutans, kingfisher birds and many more all within less than 2 days. The guides are extremely talented in spotting things and are very respectful of the animals. They explain things very well and speak very comprehensive English as well. We stayed in a villa and the facilities were great. The breakfast and morning toast are pretty good. The lunch and dinner are okay and could be a lot better but they aren't a concern. And they are very accommodating of dietary limitations.

  • We stayed over here for 3 nights in Dec 2017. We had a memorable time thanks to our guide who made it all possible. We saw orangutans which was most definitely the highlight of our trip and we saw pygmy elephants amongst other wildlife. Had it not been for our passionate guide, we wouldn't have seen as many of these lovely animals as we did and for that we are grateful. The lodge itself was beautiful but the hospitality could be a little better. Our rooms were not cleaned for 2 out of the 3 days. The one day it was cleaned, only the bed was made but the towels were not replenished or bathroom and room floors were not cleaned. The food was also good, although not the best. The food was repetitive, in which some dishes were offered for lunch buffet as well as in the dinner buffet. 3 stars for the amazing guide Suhilee who was absolutely the best!! He loves what he does and it shows and 1 star for the beautiful lodge. Give this lodge a chance, and I am hoping that they fix the areas that need attention.

  • I stayed in one of the Vilas and it was awesome. The design and confortness just outstanding. The view of the restaurant is the definition of beautiful and simple architecture respecting nature. The river cruises were really good and we saw orangutans, and pygmy elephants, many proboscis monkeys and hornbills. Loved it.

  • Good experience, but more needs to be done to make it 'great'. The villa accommodation is well designed, comfortable (though the bed isn't comfy), and spacious. Sadly, the claimed environmental credentials are largely superficial. Energy and water wastage is huge. The food is atrocious. Even by Western standards the bland food is largely tasteless, overcooked and boring. I protested and asked for Malay flavours. While much better, the chilli dominated the spices. Management neefs to rethink this vital attribute. For a mainly Western clientelle, the management ought supply a decent coffee option - the current weak dishwater tasting liquid is yuk! The rainforest grounds of the resort is home to numerous animal species (we were rewarded with Orangutan sightings), and while noisy with insect and frog sounds is still peaceful (in an energetic way). Sadly, management use very noisy petrol powered cleaning tools around the boardwalk which jars considerably. Surely locals could be employed to quietly use brooms, etc. to do the cleaning. For the visitor, the real purpose of the resort is as a base to view fauna and flora. Here the resort excels. The guides know their stuff and few leave disappointed. The boats used are comfortable, very safe and well maintained. The drivers act safely, with passenger care to the fore
