A new and thrilling addition to the attractions around to the Main Market Square is the fascinating torture museum. You’ll find exhibits on chastity belts, the witch’s chair, the pigeon’s cradle and the Spanish Donkey. There are over 100 deliciously morbid items to see here, the largest collection in the country. You can see how their forms evolved over the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque periods. The specific purpose, psychological and physical, of each item is explained. The exhibit is located inside a 15th century cellar. But of course the museum does live up to its name and charts the history of executions in Poland. The museum also provides workshops. Sometimes there are concerts.
