Opened in 2013 inside the premises of what used to be an old cinema theater, the museum is both a cultural center and exhibition space that explores Poland’s communist period between 1944 and 1989. This includes examining those times from political, cultural and social dimensions. For this purpose, it has gathered testimonies of survivors from that time, historical photographs, films, numerous books, and artwork. The museum regularly holds events and workshops and lectures; check the museum calendar for upcoming events. The most intriguing exhibit here is the one focusing on nuclear shelters. The details of the plan involved in dealing with a potential nuclear attack in the Cold War are surprisingly well thought out and intricate. Check out the souvenir shop selling authentic antiques.
