Satara Restcamp, Kruger National Park Reviews
Welcoming, well-kept, comfortable and affordable! The Satara Rest Camp is economical, very family-friendly, and has a rustic charm. Majority of the Chalets which serve as accommodation are set out in a series of circles. Satara is well wooded and the bird-life is magnificent. The camp-ground is spacious, with a lot of trees and facilities readily available. There is a very well stocked Shop where you can get all your essentials, from tourists souvenirs to water, sun-lotion and insect-repellent. Oh, yea, beer too. Sorry, not my choice, but hey, I realise it’s important to some. There’s a moderately-priced restaurant on the property, with a pretty reasonable menu. The reception offers driving tours guided bush walks. Satara very central and well placed for a starting point for all your game-viewing tours.
Excellent breakfast with good service. Part of our order was not as we had asked for, but it was changed quickly and graciously and we really enjoyed or breakfast. Good coffee and reasonable prices all round. We hear reliably that the lunch menu is as good as the breakfast offering.
A great camp in central Kruger. Lots of different accommodation available. Well stocked shop where u can buy anything u left at home. Restaurant, pizza takeaway, petrol station on site.
As we are camping I can rate the camp facilities. Ablution blocks are kept fairly clean. Nice washing machines and tumble driers. Not many trees for shade and the electric points are not enough for all the caravans coming in.
Maybe the best camp to visit for game spotting. The popular S100 route in my view the best in the Kruger. Start early and drive SLOWLY. Aim for a brunch (NO restaurants!!!) at NWANETSI and return via tarred road. Repeat this daily and reverse route every fourth day. Satara is the second largest camp of the Kruger and arranged in Circles (A to F) with bits of nature in the camp. Reservation/occupation of Satara is all year round close to 100%. This is especially evident in the Caravan park where grassy areas is absent. All because of popular demand.
