  • What a disappointment! We camped for 5 nights. Showers are shocking, dirty with poor to no water pressure. The shower heads are blocked and have not been cleaned since they where installed. In the 5 days we did not once see a manager checking on the staff. The braais are barely cleaned and the campsite is generally dirty with small pieces of trash everywhere. Some of the lights around the wash up area are not working. The restaurant is very poorly run and very expensive, also neglected with lights not working and benches needing to be upholstered. Don't eat the Kraal buffet, absolute rip off. The shop is well stocked and the only positive at the camp, although expensive, at least justified.

  • We've been coming to the Kruger for 15 years now. I'm sad to say that we will probably look for private camps next time. My experience: 1) Satara pool out of order indefinitely. 2) Mice problem not under control. We had a rat living in our chalet roof for one. We totalled 56 mice for the 10 days in and around our chalet. 3) Sweeping of the streets never happened in the 10 days we were there. They used to keep the streets clean in previous years. 4) Restaurant in Satara is shocking. Cold food and bad service. They could never get this restaurant in good working order in the 15 years. 5) Our sheets in the Chalet were very old and need to be replaced, shower is gross and need a revamp. 6) We didn't see a single traffic officer in the 10 days anywhere. They used to prosecute offenders. Now people just race between sightings and pose a threat to wildlife crossing the roads. 7) Picnic places seem to be in an OK state. 8) We saw a lot of anti poaching guys. Keep it up! 9) I really feel they can do more to make the camp "better looking". The Olifants camp looks great.

  • Welcoming, well-kept, comfortable and affordable! The Satara Rest Camp is economical, very family-friendly, and has a rustic charm. Majority of the Chalets which serve as accommodation are set out in a series of circles. Satara is well wooded and the bird-life is magnificent. The camp-ground is spacious, with a lot of trees and facilities readily available. There is a very well stocked Shop where you can get all your essentials, from tourists souvenirs to water, sun-lotion and insect-repellent. Oh, yea, beer too. Sorry, not my choice, but hey, I realise it’s important to some. There’s a moderately-priced restaurant on the property, with a pretty reasonable menu. The reception offers driving tours guided bush walks. Satara very central and well placed for a starting point for all your game-viewing tours.

  • The restaurant there was absolutely shocking! They didn't have some beverages we wanted and they didn't have the ingredients for some of the items that were on the menu eg lettuce, brown bread basic things. So sad but the shop there was good.

  • We were camping. Great game viewing. Camping very good but very very busy. Stands have no dustbin or water ot tap. No grass
