Explore the development and historical fashions of Malaysian textiles from the prehistoric to current era. The museum is housed in a beautiful Mughal-Islamic building built in 1896. It’s two stories cover nearly 500 works in 4 major galleries, which are:
- Pohon Budi Gallery: The Tree of Life Gallery showcases the earliest tools, traditions and techniques of textiles in the region, with specific focus on prehistoric native crafts.
- Pelangi Gallery: The Rainbow Gallery evokes the diversity of Malaysia’s textile heritage - Chinese, Sarawakian, Sabahan and Baba and Nyonya.
- Teluk Berantai Gallery: An interlocking technique that is the specialty of Malaysian songet making.
- Ratna Sari Gallery: Jewellery and ornaments work by various ethnic groups in Malaysia.
