About The Bird Park, Kuala Lumpur

Though it can be considered part of the Lake Gardens, this attraction charges a hefty fee for its charms. The 21 acre public aviary is one of the largest covered bird parks in the world. Three thousand birds covering about 200 species make this an indispensable visit for birdies. Before you visit, check out the feeding times for various species of birds such as ostriches, lory, hornbill, eagle and storks. The park is famous for its 3 zones in which the birds are allowed to fly free, in habitats that closely resemble their natural homes. These zones include areas such as Flightless Bird, Hornbill Park, Flamingo Pond, and Brahminy Pond.

The Bird Park, Kuala Lumpur Reviews

  • They say it is the largest bird atrium in the world, if it is not; it must be close to the biggest. In essence they have put a huge net over half the park and then let the birds roam around, so you can get really close! Easy to spend 1-2 hours there, if you are keen photographer then you will need longer. There is a show at the far end of the park which is worth watching (and gives you sometime to cool off in the shade as KL is quite hot!). Definitely worth a visit! Simplest way to get there is to take a taxi there and back.

  • Touch the nature from near!! Amazing to stay close with birds. Birds dont fear of people here. You can feed them and have close pics. They have created a net all over so birds can stay inside and you may enjoy closeness with them. Charge your camera before going to this park. You might also need a bigger capacity SD Card. Atmosphere remains humid due to climate and park being mostly on wet soil.

  • Located in the serene and scenic Kuala Lumpur Lake Gardens, it is only 10 minutes drive away from the city centre of Kuala Lumpur. It is the home to more than 3,000 birds of approximately 200 species of local and foreign birds. Sprawling approximately 20.9 acres of verdant valley terrain, the park is divided into 4 zones; Zone 1 and 2 make up the free-flight zone; Zone 3 is the Hornbill Park and Zone 4 is where the birds are placed in separate cages and mini aviaries. One of KL Bird Park's most extraordinary feature is that in Zone 1, 2 and 3, birds are let free in the aviary which closely resembles their natural habitat. With this free-flight concept, birds are able to breed naturally in this unique environment. Visitors will have an exciting experience of watching colourful and melodic birds perching and winging about freely while relaxing in a natural and beautifully landscaped surrounding. KL Bird Park is also reputed to be the largest walk-in free-flight aviary in the world.

  • Nature experience at it's very best. Free flying and roaming birds within a huge net canopy. Great learning opportunity for the kids. You can see exotic tropical birds up close in their habitat. Always the chance for an encounter with a the great hornbill. The cafe is very cozy and serves some super satay.

  • This place is definitely worth a visit. Depending upon your speed and if you want to watch shows you can spend as little as two hours or up-to 5 hours. A beautiful aviary where you don't have to search for the birds, they might just come and sit on you themselves. Even if it's sunny, not much matters as the canopy of trees helps you walk in shade. If you enjoy birds, do not miss this place. If you are afraid of them please don't visit atall!
