Well, it's a 2 star motel for a reason. There were some features though, that made it feel more like a 1 star motel. Poorly sealed doors, holes in drapes, popcorn ceilings, weird stains on decorative pillows, etc. Also it's a small thing but I don't think I've ever stayed at a motel that didn't give you a fresh roll of toilet paper on the roll. It was partially used. Also someone's half-used soap was chilling up in the ledge in the shower. While I wouldn't call it "terrible" it was below what I expected based on the pictures I saw online. It makes it look kind of hip. But don't be fooled by the funky orange walls. It is just a half-hearted contemporary facade trying to cover a fairly shabby room. The picture is very misleading. My room for instance did not have those contemporary lamps as shown, it had 80s looking lamps with off-white shades that are on a hinge on the wall. Don't count on the free breakfast either unless you want cereal or a waffle. You pump batter from a little machine and then use the waffle iron I think. No eggs or anything like that. Get an omelet from Goody Goody right next door instead. Very good. However, a positive was that the walls were very thick and seemed soundproof, and with it being one story there's nobody clunking around above you.
The room is dilapidated. The carpet needs a super cleaning but it really should be replaced. The shower curtain shouldn't have been reused. It looks like oil or paint on it but just looks dirty period. The tub/shower should be repainted or replaced because it looks dirty. The linens and towels appear to be new and that's the only good thing. There were a couple roaches we killed in the bathroom. The TV has a black streak showing vertically in the flat screen. The hair dryer is falling apart and could possibly start a fire or electrocute you. I wouldn't stay here unless you absolutely had to. The web site photos have to be from another Howard Johnson because there are not any rooms that look that good in this place.
I wasn't expecting much from a 2 star hotel, but I was expecting that it would be generally clean and the room to be generally cooled by AC. I was disappointed on both fronts. The room had warm and cool spots throughout. No fire detector and oil spots on two couchions. It's a room to stay in that it cooler than be outside but that's all.
The rooms smell clean and the beds are comfy. The breakfast options are terrible. Overall just a good place to put your head but not stay long.
This was by far the most disgusting hotel I have ever seen in my life. There were hairs on the towels, a booger wiped on the bathroom wall, red stuff on the carpet (maybe blood) what looked like meth residue on the table, and to top it off two, two inch dead cockroaches in the corner of the room. I went to the front desk and the manager acted like he couldn't have cared less and was very rude. If there was an option for 0 stars I would put that. Seriously don't stay here
