AMAZING location right next to Kyoto train station makes your life so easy!! Hotel is new and nice enough that it’s decently enjoyable. Not in the coolest area but super convenient. Wonderful staff who are very helpful and the rooms (while small from American standards) are big enough for two people to very comfortably stay.
Four star hotel, currently under renovation. Been here many times. If you get lucky, you might get a renovated room, the non-renovated ones are funny. All clean, not vary spacious and the new rooms have a feeling of a bit of luxury in the materials. The breakfast is average, served in a noisy hall with tables too close to each other. Not too many varieties available. Location of the hotel is very good just 100m from the station (turn right at Central exit facing Kyoto Tower and walk 100 meters). Very friendly and helpful staff. Pictures are from Grand comfort room with Japanese tatami flooring.
Great location. Artistic decoration. Detailed service.
The room was extremely small, much smaller then the photos suggested. There was literally no place to open the luggage and the faucet was placed in the corridor right next to the door of the suite... There was also a renovation during our visit (we were not warned in advance). The breakfast was ok, the location very close to the station- but it’s only convenient if you actually need it. Getting there from the Shinkansen was not at all easy (but this maybe was our bad)
Hotel is hard to find as you have to go down a noisy side street. Entrance is temporary due to construction works. As you enter the hotel is is vast and impressive, but the rest of the hotel is dark, dingey and feels in urgent need of an update and good clean. Our room on the first night was way to small and the opposite of the pictures we had seen when booking. No where to put your suitcase or unpack, and the bathroom sink is as you walked into the room. We did get upgraded and the superior room was far better but the bathroom set up was a little odd. The hotel was very busy with big groups on holiday. The lifts kept jamming up and breakfast was also very busy, with food not replaced in a hurry when it was finished. If you are thinking about getting a drink at the bar when you return from sightseeing don’t get your hopes up, as the bar closes before 10pm and they stop serving at 9:40. The bar staff were quite rude and when we did manage to get a drink the staff kept looking at their watches which wasn’t great. The hotel is strangely Charmless and I don’t think we would stay here again. There are much better hotels elsewhere in the city. This didn’t feel like a 4 star hotel but perhaps it will improve after they have completed construction works.
