Nishiki Warai, Kyoto Reviews

  • My husband and I were surprised how much we really liked the food, given that we tend to be more sushi and ramen type people. However, we heard that this place was family friendly, so we came here traveling with a toddler. The toddler also enjoyed the food. We saw a variety of people in here, from a large Japanese family group to young people on dates, so while it was family friendly in a sense, it's not like it was all kids by any means. Overall, a solid choice for a cheap meal to try something different. We ordered the Okonomiyaki and the Kyotenyaki, and both were really good. There were several other options, as well as side dishes etc. on the menu.

  • Great place where you cook your noodles or cabbage pancakes (better than they sound!) At your own table. You write your name at the door and wait to be called but the wait isn't too long, and you eat in a booth with bench seats. The place is very family friendly but would also be good for a laid back date. The food was tasty.

  • Tasty “mixed” okonomiyaki, which has shrimp, pork and octopus. Tasty lunch for about 900 yen. Don’t forget to add the sweet sauce (also available spicy) and the mayonnaise that’s on each table.

  • Great food, lovely staff, English menu. We were there with 2 young children, and they loved the food too. We all came out with full bellies and big smiles.

  • It's not bad for groups. Food was nice! Only sad part is that the food isn't cooked in front of you >_
