  • Really enjoyed this lovely trail. Superb view of the volcano from the start of the hike. We took the more aggressive longer walk and honestly got a bit too tired to do both after completing the first. It is definitely a real hike. Beautiful unspoiled nature. Highly recommend for those looking for a well marked and safe trail that still feels adventurous. Must be fit for this. It’s a more aggressive walk than we had anticipated.

  • Entrance per person was $15 which gave entry to a large domain. We did the yellow “hard” trail which was quite easy for me as a hike but I could see how it might not be a walk in the park for people with low mobility (no steps, rocks, muddy). Unfortunately did not see that much wildlife other than some turkey vultures but the day I went it was quite calm and peaceful. Beautiful views of the region, lava, lakes and forest.

  • Pretty nice trails with great outlooks around the lavafield. But: Friends, to be honest: 12$ for a few trails without any further guidance or information is way too much. Think twice if you'd like to spend that money, especially when you'd been in the close-by national park before, which is basically the same. And at least you might sneak in the park for free close to the little lake, quite easy if you walk along the street with open eyes and a good map ;-)

  • $12 entrance fee per person to enjoy this fantastic hike. Take the longer trail - it takes about 3.5 hours and you’ll enjoy walking through the forest and lava fields. I’d recommend that you wear hiking boots because it can be a bit challenging at points, but I saw a woman doing the hike in a dress and wedges, so anything is possible! The phenomenal volcano view point is about 2 hours into the hike and it is SO WORTH IT! If it’s cloudy, hang out there for a bit because the weather and the clouds are constantly changing. Side note: they have walking sticks you can borrow!

  • We did the long hike and spend about 3 hours, but took our time taking photos and watching animals. The trails are well maintained with only few steep steps and rocks. The first part led through secondary jungle, which was beautiful to see. The second party led through the lava fields, which was completed different to what I expected but still interesting. We did the hike without a guide, but read some of the history on Wikipedia and the lady at the entrance was happy to answer our questions. Only four stars as I think the entrance price of 15 USD pP is not justified.
