  • $12 entrance fee per person to enjoy this fantastic hike. Take the longer trail - it takes about 3.5 hours and you’ll enjoy walking through the forest and lava fields. I’d recommend that you wear hiking boots because it can be a bit challenging at points, but I saw a woman doing the hike in a dress and wedges, so anything is possible! The phenomenal volcano view point is about 2 hours into the hike and it is SO WORTH IT! If it’s cloudy, hang out there for a bit because the weather and the clouds are constantly changing. Side note: they have walking sticks you can borrow!

  • Great trails . The entrance is now $12, kids free Lots of people when we visited (end of Feb). We did both trails, took us about 2 hours (adults + teens). Trails are rocky and fairly steep in places, so I would say they are moderate difficulty (and you're hiking in +30C - the day we did it, it was very sunny - beautiful but hot). Old lava stones are very impressive, and the view points close to volcano are beautiful. We also enjoyed the 'agricultural display' at the beginning of the trail - you get to see how bananas, pineapple and sugar cane are growing, plus squeeze your own sugar juice! did not get to see much wildlife other than some birds, a lizard and lots of leaf cutter ants (those are really cool to observe) Tips: Bring lots of water. Sunscreen is important - part of the trails are in the open. Wear appropriate shoes (this one is not for flip flops, but keens are enough - you don't need hiking boots Consider going against the 'arrows' (counterclockwise?) - this way you'd spend less time in the crowd of other people as you'd be moving in the opposite direction Start early in the morning - we started around 8:15 and it was already hot

  • We took a longer trail. We did it in almost 3 hours as it was a rainy day and we were with 7 years old kid. Despite the rain we enjoyed the trail as it is more natural, a lot of rocks and you should walk carefully. Price ~12USD per adult. We were in August.

  • Beautiful view of the Arenal Volcano and surroundings. The path takes 15min to walk up and 10 to walk down, so don't expect a real hike. It can also get really crowded with people. It's suitable for children.

  • Great hiking, very well maintained trails, well marked. The sugar cane press was a nice touch that allows you to try fresh sugar cane.
