Built in 1936 as a military armory, the Guntersville Museum has a castle-like architecture and is situated adjacent to Guntersville public library. The museum features pictures and exhibits that showcase local history and the more recent past related to Guntersville Lake. The place also features works of Frank Nelson- a nationally acclaimed local artist, and a display of native birds. A gift shop inside the museum offers books on local history, prints, and ancient postcards.

  • Very interesting little museum! This quaint little museum is definitely worth a visit if you are interested in history. The kids with us got to do a neat little scavenger hunt while we looked through. This place is enjoyable for the young and old! Our favorite part was the collection of rocks and minerals! We could have spent hours in that section alone.

  • The museum was extremely nice and informative. Didn't know that Guntersville had that much history behind it or other cities in Alabama. The curator was nice as well.

  • Interesting items in the museum. Always nice to know how things were over 100 years ago. Worth th e visit.

  • The place was clean and the Director was so helpful to cover up the description for us when I was at camp where we'd try to guess the origin of the artifact. Would go again!

  • Made my fathersday great. Volunteers are great museum is awesome.
