Carmike Cinemas was a motion picture exhibitor headquartered in Columbus, Georgia. As of March 2016, the company had 276 theaters with 2,954 screens in 41 states, and was the fourth largest movie theater in the United States. The company bills itself as "America's Hometown Theatre" and Carmike theaters are largely positioned in rural or suburban areas with populations under 200,000. The company's theaters operate under various names and will generally have a name followed by the number of auditoriums at that location; for example, "Carmike 15". On March 4, 2016, AMC Theatres announced its intent to acquire Carmike Cinemas. The deal was closed on December 21, 2016; the Carmike locations will be amalgamated under the AMC name.

  • Location is fantastic and the style of the theater is wonderful addition to the downtown area, but it seems to be going downhill since taken over by AMC. Now it is frequently understaffed and seems to be experiencing problems. I have noticed that the carpets and bathrooms are dirty. Soda machines are out of syrups and ice. On my most recent visit I was told that I could not purchase tickets to a newer movie because there were issues with the theater it was playing in... Why couldn't they just move it to a different theater?? Morale seems to be very low. Hoping someone important notices and turns thing around!

  • Ok so it takes forever to get your tickets. You have to wait in the snack bar line even if you just want tickets. The poor boys behind the counter (only two of them) had no help and couldnt keep up with the crowd.

  • Wish it had more shows earlier in the day. Building needs renovation.

  • Never knew it changed from a carmike, Nice service.

  • Love the MATINEES PRICES, and the new Reward program. Great for budgeting family funtime
