Owned by the Fakir Family, the Faqir Khana Museum is a quaint private museum housing over twenty thousand artifacts dating back to early 20th and 18th century mostly. Located in the Walled City, Faqir Khana Museum is the largest privately-owned exhibit in South Asia. The huge collection of this museum owes to the connection of the family with the Sikh Royal Family, especially with Maharaja Ranjit Singh. It opened its doors for the public in 1901 and since then has been offering an insight of the upper-class Lahori families’ incarnated bonding with Sikh for a long time. The museum is open seven days a week from 10am to 5pm. The collections of the museum include textiles of the Sikh Era, ivory artifacts, manuscripts, paintings, especially that of Nawab Mumtaz Ali.
