Went with Calgary friends to Lake Louise where we hiked to the Lake Agnes Tea House and then up to the Beehive. Lots of elevation gain from Lake Louise and a pretty good workout for a hike. It's worth the effort for sure. We made a loop first through Mirror Lake and then up to Lake Agnes. The trails are arranged so you don't need to retrace your steps going back down. There's a nice water fall along the way as a bonus.
We hiked to the Big Beehive on a quite smoky day. Nevertheless, the views from up there were incredible. The way up is not that difficult. Some of the switchbacks in the final part are a little more risky, but nothing too bad.
Great hike. I've walked to the Lake Agnes teahouse several times but this is the first time I continued around the lake and then up the Beehive. There's a great view of Lake Louise at the top. You can continue down the other side closer to the lake rather than retracing your steps.
Amazing and breathtaking view to the Lake Louise from 2300m above the sea !
Difficult hike that rewards with stunning views of the area, and of the tiny canoes skimming across Lake Louise below.
