About Larnaca Castle Fort And Museum, Larnaca

At the southern end of the Foinikoudes Promenade lies one of Larnaca is most historically important buildings. Originally just a small fortification, a proper castle was built up here in the late Medieval Age, slowly falling to disuse over the years. The Ottomans, the British and the Germans have all claimed some use of it, usually as a war prison and execution ground. Since then it’s been transformed into a museum containing relics of Early Christian and Byzantine heritage as well as tools, utensils and weapons from other stages of Cypriotic history. The castle courtyard is now actively used as a small open-air theatre. It’s not the most exciting fort in the world, but cannons are always worth looking at. The view from the ramparts is nice. You need not go out of your way to visit, but if you’re walking the Promenade, go ahead and pop in for a bit.

  • Must see place if you are visiting Larnaca, 3 min walk but that is the best you'll get. There is a few boat parties, cruises and restaurant ships for an authentic Mediterranean experience. Good for English and Russian speakers!

  • Pretty clean. Good thing sand. Clean water. Many pubs, tavernas, coffee shops, medieval museum, playgrounds, no parking places. McDonald's KFC Ocean Basket etc Food is good, mostly tavernas and restaurants have properly conditions to take a good meal. Single problem I found is the lack of original cypress seafood cuisine. All is pretty comercial and despite of the fact that Cyprus is an island, the don't offer good seafood products.

  • Very good place to visit and people are very friendly 😍

  • Great pier and can have a magnificent boat ride with options for swim, meal, drinks, fishing and more.

  • Nice turistic View
