J Boag And Son - Review
Founded in 1883, this brewery’s identity has become Inseparable from the identity of Launceston. This alone makes it worth taking the 60 or 90 minutes tour of the brewery. Obviously the tour would not be complete without a beer tasting at the end. Even if you don't have time for a full tour of the brewery it's still worth stopping in just to be able to have this heritage beer. The brews to try are the premium lager, the Boag’s Pure, and the Honey Porter. Additionally there are also local wines and cheeses and coffee. There is a light lunch menu and various teas. Check out the gift store.

J Boag And Son, Launceston Reviews
Nice old building, great tour guide 'Phil' - easy to listen to and entertaining. Interesting and enjoyable!
We did the tour and learnt a lot about beer and the history of the company. Our guide was amazing and was very knowledgeable. The cheese and beer tasting at the end was great and unexpected. Definitely a must for beer lovers!
Do it. It’s a great experience. We knew we had made a good decision the moment we walked in. It is a great hotel, with great atmosphere and welcoming staff. The barman made us feel right at home, was very informative and entertaining as he poured each of the three beers that make up the $10 paddle consisting of a Draught, XXX Ale and a Wizard Smith Ale. The $15 cheese platter for lunch perfectly complimented the beer. Really pleasant lunch sitting in the sunny courtyard. Recommend taking time to view the upstairs museum before departing. There is also a store on site with James Boag merchandise available for souvenirs and gifts.
Loved the experience, had never been to a brewery before, came here out of interest and visiting Launceston a friend suggested to do it. Not too pricey either. We had Benike as our tour guide and he was fantastic, friendly and informative! The beer tasting at the end that matched with the cheese was a highlight! Definitely a must do in Launceston!
I gave this a one star actually it should be a no star ..it was the biggest ripoff in Tassie ,,$66 for 2 to look at some barley in a jar smell some hops in a jar.. and look at some brick building and a plastic plaque outside on the footpath,,,go inside with all the safely gear climb a shitload of stairs,( pity if u got bad knees)to look at some stainless steel silos tops . And I did say silo tops,,then down the stairs to see a room where the beer is,, boring,, It like looking at a piece of concrete,,,then walk to the video room to watch a silent movie/doco.5mins long which u can see on foxtel better, (heineken) .no actual tour though the factory.TOP SECRET and guess what the bottling plant never seems to work, it's broken down,it seems like it's always broken down,,or they doing cans .. the tour was rushed,, ( oh we are falling behind time) too many old people with bad knees. ,,one way I wished it ended quicker,I ask some hard questions ,she didn't know the answers, ang the beer and cheese If u are driving u can't have 3 beers in 10 minutes. Any body who said this is a great or good tour ,u got to be kidding me or yourself cos u all got fleeced ,,unless you like looking at bricks and silo tops,, Like I said the worst ripoff in Tassie give your money to charity instead.or get a carton and get smashed
