The location of this resume feels very natural as it is that far outside the main city. Located on 900 acres of old-growth native bushland, the zoo is home to Tasmanian devils, emus, kangaroos, monkeys and apes, reptiles and more than 80 species of birds. Altogether there are over 1000 animals covering 100 species. Most of the traffic arrives during feeding time. A major children’s delight is the Jurassic Swamp area. It has full size sculptures of over 40 dinosaurs. You can also book the zoo for private events and parties. Unlike other zoos of this size, this is a private family owned the business.

Tasmania Zoo, Launceston Reviews - Write a Review
Brilliant morning out. Great collection of animals, some very unique. Love the Aussie styling of the zoo, using recycled containers for somevpf the enclosures. The Jurasssic Swamp was a huge hit with my 6 year old. Loved standing literally feet away from lions, and heading them purr!!
We arrived at 330 in school holidays in spring during daylight savings with 7 CHILDREN in tow! As we approached the man at the counter, he pointed out it closed at 430 ... 'oh' we all said disappointedly ... 'Well,' I said brightly, 'as we have come all this way and we won't be able to return tomorrow could we come in for an hour at a discounted price?' 'No,' he said. We returned to the car.. Seven very disappointed children. 'Why did he say that?' My 9 year old asked. 'Because he is mean,' I said 'mean and greedy ... some people are mean and greedy ... even people who own zoos!' I could tell that she was having trouble processing that ... and I was too :(
Brilliant day out. Staff knowledgeable...great hands on experience...animals well cared for with great enrichment processes and well thought out park. Facilities great and had fabulous service....would go again tomorrow
What a delightful place to visit. So clean and a surprising variety of animals. Totally worth the visit, even on a cool and damp day. We LOVED the lions!
Expensive compared to other venues. If it has been raining I wouldn't recommend visiting as most pathways are very muddy. Some nice displays though not something I would go to more than once.
