Tasmania Zoo, Launceston Reviews

  • Had a great talk with maintenance staff, could have stayed all day. So much to look at in the workshop let alone the engines on the hard stand . Thought I was reporting on don river railway!! Duh. We found this zoo by default, spent 12 days on this trip and covered most of the main locations in Tasmania. This was without doubt the highlight of the trip, the sad side is very little advertising of the zoo. When our grandchildren are a little bit older this is the place to bring them and spend the day here. Loved the staff so helpful, the Tasmanian devils were our highlight of our trip.

  • This was one of the highlights for me in Tasmania; This is a private zoo, I found it was not advertised as much as you would expect so was unsure what to expect. A great variety of birds and lots of interesting mammals. What made this a great experience was the care and passion of a young zoo keeper felt for the animals (sorry can't remember his name)

  • Well spaced out. Animals seem very happy. Gift shop was a little baron and only a few items match what was here, cafe is well priced and all around ok service. They seem to be doing some renovations, so some areas were a bit of a mess but we look forward to seeing the upgrades.

  • Very impressed by the layout and presentation. Very good variety of animals - white lions, merecats and Tassy tigers which has a excellent talk avail. Kiosk very good too. Signage lacking in Launceston to this interesting attraction.

  • Perfect size and good assortment of animals. For the people stating bad enclosures etc. they obv have no idea. Everything was decent and well maintained. I wish the advertised more as we nearly missed it.
