Tasmania Zoo - Review

The location of this resume feels very natural as it is that far outside the main city. Located on 900 acres of old-growth native bushland, the zoo is home to Tasmanian devils, emus, kangaroos, monkeys and apes, reptiles and more than 80 species of birds. Altogether there are over 1000 animals covering 100 species. Most of the traffic arrives during feeding time. A major children’s delight is the Jurassic Swamp area. It has full size sculptures of over 40 dinosaurs. You can also book the zoo for private events and parties. Unlike other zoos of this size, this is a private family owned the business.

  • Yesterday my family and I including 2 children 3 and 5 had an amazing time at the Tasmania Zoo. It was better than I expected with great variety for children. The Jurassic Park was great for the small children and all the enclosures seemed a good size. The only let down was the young girl at the admission office who obviously was not that interested in being there. It was not till much later during the day that we found out that we could have had photos of the children and the animals which if we had been told was an option we would have done. Suggest that the first person you meet at an attraction needs to be selling ALL the attributes of the park. The food was tasty and a good price. The jumping attraction was great but the lions were definitely worth going for. Being a local we will go again and encourage all Tasmanians to support this venture. Well Done to the owners!

  • The best zoo ever Amazingly friendly staff who will bend over backwards for you, wonderful value, amazing animal encounters. Love this place. Thanks so much guys

  • A great afternoon spent seeing various animals. A great place for families, couples and singles. The Tasmania devils are so very cute. A great day out.

  • It's a beautiful place to come to and be with the animals, to experience them with the kids, but I do feel the birds need to be upgraded to a big free flight aviary. Many of them as they are have little natural sunlight, barely room to fly and haven't always got water to drink let alone bathe in. I realise the cost involved would be great but it's something they really need.

  • Staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. Entry fee is reasonable. Wide variety of animals. The only negative here is some enclosures seemed a little outdated. Perhaps more funding and sponsorship is needed for an overhaul. Overall an impressive experience!
