Located on the South esk River this hydroelectric concrete gravity dam created the long and narrow Lake Trevallyn. This has been turned into a recreation area, with a boat launching ramp, and ski jump at Aquatic Point. If you visit the dam during the time it is spilling water the site is quite dramatic. Swimming, water skiing, kayaking and windsurfing are popular summertime activities. Nearby there are picnic and the grassy areas, and a monument built by Polish immigrants. Follow the Trevallyn Dam track north along the lakeside, or south to Deadman’s Hollow Scenic Lookout. The entire southeast area of the lake is the Trevallyn Nature Recreation Area. It’s Deadmans Knob Circuit circuit trail can take you the Duck Reach Museum and Interpretation Center if you’re inclined to head that way. Closer by is the Cable Hang Gliding Launceston if you’re up for some adventure sports.
