Cathedrale De Saint-julien De Mans - Review

One of the most spectacular architectural projects, Cathedrale de Saint-Julien de Mans is a masterpiece. As you walk along the inner lanes of Le mans, the church will come into view, and just with its first glimpse you will know for sure, that this is something larger than life. With the cathedral’s length being 134 meters, the surrounding area along with the church is like a tiny palace. It is dedicated to the city’s first bishop, Saint Julian, who not only established Christianity, but also contributed to the knowledge and growth of the society. The story dates back to the 4th century, when this life changing event occurred. Since then, small developments have led to the construction of this stunning building. 6th century saw the first initiative to build a church. And although the date of the original church remains unknown, this mind-blowing cathedral was completed in the 14th century. To this date, it flaunts all of its unique designs, that have been perfectly preserved. You will get to observe the mesmerising blend of Roman, as well as French Gothic architecture. Known for its choir that displays Romanesque and Gothic designs, its bifurcating flying buttresses and a marvelous collection of stained glass, this is every artist's dream destination. You can also go up the 64-meter tower to enjoy the panoramic view of the entire city. In spite of the crowd that floats through the cathedral, the families and the tourists, you will always find the atmosphere calm and relaxing. Sit down for some time while you take in the glory of the church, and you will find yourself at peace, in awe, yet tranquil. While you are touring the city, this cathedral must not be missed!
