Make a day trip to Ilkley, located northwest of Leeds. Its town centre is characterized by Victorian architecture, wide streets and floral displays. Ilkley Moor, which is to the south of the town, is the subject of a folk song, often described as the unofficial anthem of Yorkshire, "On Ilkla Moor Baht 'at". The town is known as Spa Town and its attractions include:
- Remains of a Roman wall.
- The Manor House (one of the oldest buildings in Ilkley) with a museum and art gallery.
- The Ilkley Toy Museum with its fascinating collection of toys dating from 350 BC to the present day.
Ilkley is also home to the Ilkley Literature Festival which takes place every October. Further, this cozy little town is also home to one of Betty's famous tearooms, along with a great selection of other pubs and restaurants.
