Lamayuru is famous for one of the largest as well as oldest gompas namely the Lamayuru Monastery and the exquisite geological formation of moonlands. It is famous for mask dance festival that occurs on every first and sixth month as per the Tibetan lunar calendar. The place stands as a symbol of eternity and you can enjoy the tranquillity that is offered by this monastery. There was a time when the monastery served as a home to more than 400 monks.
