The Pangong Lake is an exquisite and worldwide famous closed drainage lake spread across a vast area in the Himalayas. The major portion of the lake falls in the territory of Tibet. The lake has been categorized under the protocol of the Ramsar Convention as a great wetland reserve with a recognized global importance. Consequently, the lake has attained the status of the inaugural international wetland in South Asia.
The lake characteristically freezes at the onset of winter. Being situated at an altitude of almost 4500 meters, the lake consists of extremely minimal aquatic vegetation and micro vegetation. The marshy areas of the lake feature the flourish of scrubs and few varieties of perennial aquatic herbs. The underwater life is limited to the thriving of crabs and other crustacean beings, with almost no fishes or other forms of marine life.
The lake is also a much favored immigration zone for migratory birds, along with the breeding and dwelling of the Bar-headed goose, Brahmini duck, and several other species of mountain birds.

Heaven on earth!! The way to Pangong Lake is through a deserted area with few spots covered by Army camps. No one can ever expect or dream such a heaven in such place .Wherever u see its blue paradise and the best part is what you are looking at is just a glimpse of it( just the 1/3rd of the whole lake in India) Pangong is a must visit..
This was my Second visit and the place is absolutely mesmerizing. The water is still pristine and chilly. Best place to stay is near the banks of the lake (spangmik). Plenty of accommodation is available. Hope the natural beauty and surroundings is not lost by growing tourist flow and plastic pollution.
What a wonderful place, had been there on August 9, 2016. Had plans to spend a night there, but couldn't because road was closed for floods. Paradise on earth.
It's amazing place. If you are traveling with your friends it is a place to be. You can relish your soul with calmness of natural beauty. The plethora of young Himalayas and a beautiful piece of heaven awaits you here.
Such a heavenly place to visit.Never seen such a nature's beauty. The temperature here is very cold with cold winds blowing your head .The transparent water and shadows of snow capped mountains on the lake will make you surprise.
