The Pangong Lake is an exquisite and worldwide famous closed drainage lake spread across a vast area in the Himalayas. The major portion of the lake falls in the territory of Tibet. The lake has been categorized under the protocol of the Ramsar Convention as a great wetland reserve with a recognized global importance. Consequently, the lake has attained the status of the inaugural international wetland in South Asia.
The lake characteristically freezes at the onset of winter. Being situated at an altitude of almost 4500 meters, the lake consists of extremely minimal aquatic vegetation and micro vegetation. The marshy areas of the lake feature the flourish of scrubs and few varieties of perennial aquatic herbs. The underwater life is limited to the thriving of crabs and other crustacean beings, with almost no fishes or other forms of marine life.
The lake is also a much favored immigration zone for migratory birds, along with the breeding and dwelling of the Bar-headed goose, Brahmini duck, and several other species of mountain birds.

Pangong Lake, Leh Reviews - Write a Review
The most beautiful lakes i have ever seen. Situated between dry and rusty mountains of Himalayan belt, it is a must visit place for anyone. You can always see the multiple colours of lake and enjoy it for like 4-5 hours. The water is too cold and it is considered sacred by locals
One of the Most beautiful lake one can witness in India. Its looks amazing in both Winter and summer season. Lake is so much clear that one can see the full sky refection in it. Every wanderlust should visit this lake atleast in his life time.
Beautiful lake. You will see hundreds of shades of blue color water. Clean water. The water is salty. Lot of camps to choose to stay. Will recommend to spend a day here. Based on time you get to see different colors of the water.
DON'T MISS!! Pangong is one of my favorite place ever! Awesome landscape scene and very nice weather. But if need to prepare well to get extremely cold night while you staying overnight here...
The blue color of the lake on sunny day is stunning. But nothing interesting there. Compare to many lakes I've visited before, the lake is tedious. I would rather enjoy the journey otw to the lake, the journey was very fascinating, worth your while.
