Twilight is divine from this elevated spot, three miles from Leh. Whether sunrise or sunset, the changing light brings mystic beauty to the panorama of mountains surrounding the Stupa. The striking structure owes its remarkability to both; it’s isolation and its design. It was designed by a Japanese, and thus is greatly different from the orthodox Ladakhi structures.
This relatively new Stupa was built in 1991. The current and 14th Dalai Lama, who still visits often, himself enshrined the relics of the Buddha that are now housed there. The Shanti Stupa is a symbolic memorial depicting the completion of 2500 years of Buddhism in the world. Visitors can enjoy a brief interlude at the meditation room between climbing to the Stupa and photographing the surrounding mountains.

breath taking area. love making place for photographers. various of scenery. mesmerised when i was there. i would love to visit it again.
A holy place located at the top of a hill. One cannot miss the view from Shanti Stupa during the sun set. So good if one can reach here before the sun sets. The golden idol of Buddha and the environment around the place will make one feel peaceful. The day you land in Leh take complete rest and the next day evening visit Shanti Stupa. There is also a Buddhist temple at the base of Shanti Stupa where one can sit for a while and meditate.
One of the best places in the city. Located on the top of a hill, has a beautiful scenic view of whole city. Two ways to reach there. Challenge yourself to take staircase or can even take the road where vehicles are allowed. Very calm and peaceful.
Shanti Stupa located at Changspa area. The great scenic beauty have to be watched from the top of Shanti Stupa. Staircases and Roadways both available to reach the top. A small Monastery and huge Stupa is there. Evening lighting makes it eye catching.
