Jewry Wall Museum, Leicester Reviews

  • I have been to this Museum many times across the years and have always found it entertaining and absorbing with its large array of artefacts which archeologists have discovered of the British, Roman, Saxon, Angles, Jutes and Danes who occupied Leicester and Leicestershire. The local tribe of Britons were the Corieltauvi so the Romans named Leicester as Ratae Corieltavorum during their period of occupation. I greatly look forward to the renovated and improved museum opening in 2019. In the meanwhile, it is still possible to see the Jewry Wall itself (and touch it via St. Nicholas' Walk) and, whilst in the area, it's worth looking at the Saxon church of St. Nicholas which is immediately next door to the Jewry Wall.

  • Nice peice of Roman English history, with a small museum near by worth a visit if it's open.

  • Very cool ruin, but closed until further notice. So I can't say much about the museum.

  • Haven't been into the museum as it was closed. What you see on a Google image search is what you get.

  • Great place and very welcoming
