Located 265 metres above sea level in the wooded hilltop, the Disney-style Kreuzenstein Castle is an early medieval fortress which is a popular movie filming site due to its countryside location and exquisite neo-modern architecture. Open from 1st April to 1st November, the Kreuzenstein Castle offers guided tours of about 45-60 minutes. Overlooking the Leobendorf village and the intersection of Vienna woods and Danube River, the castle was once a stronghold and now acts as a history museum. The Cannon room and the vestibule of the armoury showcases small cannons and peasant weapons while the chapel with its stunning stained glass windows, ivory Christ sculpture, and intricate carvings has a art-cultural charm. The Knight’s Hall with the Brixen Cabinet, Prince's Chamber with original wooden furniture, Hunting Room with weapons and trophies, and the Kitchen & Keep with utensils are eye-catching.
