Boasting of its magnificent Renaissance features, the Ducal Castle was built as a stronghold during the Norman era. It was acknowledged as a National Historical Monument in 1902 and has gone through a number of renovations to maintain its aura. The Ducal Castle has a peculiar quadrilateral shape complimented by six huge towers –four of them are angular in shape with castellated style while the rest of them are quadrangular. The interior to the castle acts as a history museum featuring the throne hall adorned with the frescoes from Neapolitan School and a stone chapel. The museum contains historical artefacts of over three centuries and you will get to learn about Fiorentino where Frederick II died.
