Highbanks Metro Park Reviews & Ratings

  • This is one of our favorite parks. There is a big playground but my kids prefer the "natural play area" where they can build with large branches and rocks. There are longer trails for serious hikes but also smooth paved paths that are wheelchair accessible. The nature center is a wonder place to visit, especially during the winter months. The kids can play with animal puppets, color, look at books, or watch the birds.

  • Highbanks is one of our most favorite parks! There are so many walking trails and multiple playground areas for kids to run. We visit often! Definitely check out the visitors center if you've never been, especially, if you have young kids. There's a small stage and puppet theater area and some turtles and frogs for viewing. This was our first summer as summer campers, too! The park did a great job setting that up and managing the kids. We're already looking forward to next summer!

  • One of my favorite parks. Many trails to walk or run and beautiful scenery. If you have kids, they also have lots to do for them as well.

  • Beautiful hiking trails that are kept up well, easy to forget there's a CVS five minutes away. The information center at the trail head is small, cozy, and beautifully designed. The reading room is gorgeous and has tall bay windows for sitting and watching the birds. Plus enough reference books to keep you busy for hours at a time. My only complaint is the other visitors to the park. If you visit, don't throw your water bottles in the trees. Animals will try and chew them. I cleaned up three chewed bottles the last time I went walking. There's plenty of waste bins. And yes this is my passive aggressive guilt trip to strangers. Everyone I see there is an adult, everyone reading this is an adult, y'all can handle being called out.

  • It was nice having the Mansion Shelter House for our family reunion on August 25,2019. Our family of 100 people had access to private parking, private play area for the children, and we shared very nice bathrooms with the North Shelter House. It was well worth the 175.00 charge for the Shelter House. I have reserved the Highbanks Northern Shelter House for our reunion in August of 2020.
