The Downtown Arts Center in Lexington aims to preserve the heritage and art that is being developed in the city and the state of Kentucky. It undertakes several fundraising activities to provide monetary benefit to local artists. This is done mainly through the LexArts Gallery Hop, the Youth Arts Council and the other weekly events in the gallery. The gallery was founded by 21 art-related organisations in 1972. Since then, it has become a prominent name in the arts scene of Lexington and has taken several local artists under its patronage. This is one of the best places to visit to understand the local art scene and follow the trends in Kentucky art. The exhibition includes paintings, sculptures, jewellery, photos, and ceramics too.
