The 18th century Fort Ligonier has been reconstructed as a history museum offering guided tours to explore the historical artefacts. Sprawling over eight acres, the fort is fortified by four bastions which can be accessed by three entrances. The interior to the Fort Ligonier encompasses around 200 square feet and consists of officers’ barracks, mess, quarters, guardroom, commissary and an underground magazine. The fort is surrounded by 1600 feet long retrenchment and the outer complex has the hut of General Forbes, surgeon’s hut, Pennsylvania Hospital, log house, forge, smokehouse and a sawmill. The museum features different exhibits like the French and Indian War Art Gallery, History Galley and George Washington Collection. The Artillery house also catches attention with its Six-Pound and Twelve-Pound Field Piece, Five and a Half-Inch Howitzer and carriage.

The place was very fun and interesting! Very informative. There isn't any guide inside the museum but there was someone out in the actual fort area showing us around and answering questions that we had. The only down side was that they closed at 5 and we didn't have enough time to fully go through all of the fort and museum.
Knowledgeable staff really make this place come to life. Great place to learn about a period of time that a lot of people don’t know much about. The fort is restored to its heyday next to a museum that explains the life and equipment of the soldiers and commanders. If you're in the area and have any interest in American history, definitely check this place out.
Staff is extremely friendly, and informative. The fort is awesome!! Been here an handful of times. They just redid the museum, and they did a wonderful job! Everything you need to know about the French and Indian War is right here!! Ft. Ligonier & Ft Necessity is a must, for any French and Indian War buff.
I was really impressed with their museum. It includes some very important period portraits, period armaments from around the world and a reconstruction of the fort from the French and Indian War. Very impressive museum well worth a visit.
Very interesting place. My family loved it. Really cool to see how things were set up as a fort during war time. You should definitely make this a stop if possible. You won't regret it.
