White Water River is a clear water body formed by the runoff from the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The riverbed is full of sedimentary rocks coloured greyish-white. And because the water is so clean and clear, one can see these white rocks through it. That is why the name. The water is ice-cold, even during summers. Maidens of the Naxi culture test their pursuers’ love at this river, by making them stand in the cold water. The river lies 25 kilometres to the North of Lijiang. Standing beside it, you can enjoy the mighty spectacle of the looming snow mountain. Highlights include:
