Founded by the Lille Society of Science, Agricultural and the Arts in 1816, this education centred museum has never ceased to expand its collections using any available means to do so. It’s exhibitions cover three main sciences – zoology (110 000 samples including mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, molusc, insect and arachnids – including live and extinct exhibits.), geology ( 200,000 samples including coral and forests from hundreds of millions years ago), and ethnography (15,000 samples). The sheer numbers make it one of the most important provincial museums not only in France, but in the world too! The exhibits are beautifully laid out.

  • Small museum but plenty of things to see. Stuffed local and exotic animals, as well as living animals in terrariums. Minerals, dinosaurs, a few fossils, skeletons. Unfortunately there is no souvenir shop nor is there an option to buy food or drinks. Toilets available, nice and clean. Very recommended for children. Overall very nice experience.

  • Must visit this place , it is little but full of surprises. My girls enjoyed.

  • Rich museum full of animals very educational even tho it's not very big. Recommended for family trips specifically for kids and also for adults.

  • I liked to much this museum, it's represent within fidelity the diversity of our mother nature. In the past, and in the time of today.

  • Really interesting and fun... took much longer to walk round than anticipated as there was just so much to see!
