Lincoln Cathedral - Review

This is one of the finest and best situated Gothic buildings in Europe. The location used to double as Westminster Abbey in the Da Vinci Code movie. It was the tallest building in the world for 200 years before its wooden spire collapsed in 1549. Phone Number :- 01522 561600.

  • A large Anglican Cathedral. We followed a tour guide around who was very interesting and knowledgeable about the Cathedral. Lovely examples of stain glass and stonework and many interesting stories about the history. You can attend the Church services if you want. The refectory serves teas, coffees, cold drinks and hot and cold food of a good quality. Well worth a visit when you are next in Lincoln.

  • Stunning building, can be seen from miles away on a clear day. Simply magnificent. Currently has nesting Peregrine Falcons that can be heard from a serious distance. You can see the village of Boston from the Tower on a clear day (as per Lincoln Castle also) Nice simple gift shop inside the main doors. Many nice angles to photograph from. My favourite being from Lincoln Castle.

  • I lived in its vicinity for 50 years and it remains awesome for me. All the cathedrals in this country are unique but Lincoln is special. It can be seen for miles around and lit up at night seems to be floating in the air. The bells are melodic. Inside it has a wealth of beautiful masonry to match the exterior and beautuful stained glass windows.

  • One of the most amazing places I've ever set foot in! I lived in Lincoln for six months and never did more than walk around the outside of the cathedral. Years later my wife and I visited Lincoln and decided to go inside. It is so beautiful and awe-inspiring--you will not regret visiting!

  • It costs £8 per adult to get in but it's free if there is a service on and the £8 covers you for a year. Free to take photos except in the chapel were people go to prey but check with staff. Gift shop, toilets and a cafe on site. You will leave with a saw neck as there is a lot to look up at including the imp! Combined tickets with the castle avadible if you fancy doing both. Check the website for more information before you go about services and tower tour's
