Belem Tower - Review
The Belem Tower is very important to the history of Portugal. The tower aided greatly in the country’s colonial exploits by sea. It was also a very important defense ground for the city of Lisbon. Due to this and also its gothic beauty, the place has been declared a World Heritage site.
The gorgeous stone building is a must visit while in Lisbon. The stone that the place has been made out of is as rare to find as it is beautiful. One tall and beautiful building stands surrounded on all four sides by walls. The architecture is lovely and the carving is intricate. Set at sea, this lovely place will also give you amazing views of the surrounding area. History lovers as well as art and culture seekers will love to see this stunning tower. Also, visit the popular attractions in the city by following Lisbon Itinerary 7 Days.

Belem Tower, Lisbon Reviews
It’s a park noting but an old tower. I swear I hate there. I’m not happy cause a pick pocket came to steel things from my backpack. It was an unhappy experience for me. A she came close enough to just parented I blocked her way. As I trying to take a picture. I didn’t block her way. I stood aside. So tourist please beware of an old fat lady there, or any suspect came close to you. She took my little zipped bag from my backpack,it was a camera battery. Luckily my passport and wallet were still with me in the inner zip compartment.
Beautiful tower, built in the 1500s to originally help defend the city of Lisbon. It changes purposes over the centuries. Line ups can be very long. We used it as the first sight of the day, and we were able to get in with pretty much nobody around. If it's quiet like that, head first all the way up the tower to the top, then you can do the sightseeing inside each room on the way down.
This is one of the must see items in Lisbon. It recently turned 500 years old and the Rotary clubs of Lisbon helped renovate it. Formerly a guard tower, a prison and a royal residence, the tower is something to see from the outside. Come early or late to avoid the crowds and the heat Also note that the bus stop for the tower is Alges, not Belem although you can walk from one to the other in about 10 minutes. The Belém tower is amazing to look at. I went the tide was low so it wasn’t in the water as it usually is. I went on a Monday and it’s closed to the public on Monday. If you’d like to go inside, go on a different day. The view is amazing. There is some grass in front and you can sit and relax under the trees.
Ticket - €6 , can be bought in the ticket office near the tower, it will save you from general line on the entrance, an you will do other, smaller line “with tickets”. Last entrance at 17:00 🕔 Close at 17:30 Free entrance with Lisboa card, but you still have to do general line. Inside to go to upper levels, you have to wait a green traffic light 🚦 on the stairs, because they’re straight. So prepare to spend time in the lines. My opinion - is better to watch the tower from outside. Maybe if you have a guide he will make your visit more interesting.
