The Praca do Imperio or the Empire Square was built to celebrate the Portuguese empire and stands as a symbol of it. Located in the Belem district, it is also located right next to two of the city’s most important landmarks; the Jeronimos Monastery and the Belem Tower.
The Praca do Imperio gardens make it a lovely and refreshing spot for weary tourists. There are also three different lakes as well as beautiful flowers and flowerbeds that surround it.
Being located quite close to some great tourist spots, the Prace do Imperio has become a bit of a tourist hub. Although you will mostly end up visiting the place while in Lisbon anyway, do take some time out to admire the place’s tranquility and beauty.
