Rossio Square is a great cultural spot in Lisbon. Known as Rossio square even though it’s original name is Pedro IV Square or rather Praca de Pedro IV, the place is a wonderful area to just relax and unwind after a long day of sight-seeing for the tourist.

There are two beautiful fountains worth admiring in the square. The focal point is of course the giant while monument that lies in the middle of the square. The best time to go is late afternoon and or evening to take a stroll down the square to watch people going around or the sunset. The national theatre which is in the square also adds to its beauty.

There are several rustic cafes and restaurants in the surrounding area that create a very culturally lively atmosphere. Do visit one of them to get an authentic taste of present day Lisbon. The rossio train station is also nearby.

  • A great hostel in the heart of Lisbon with extremely friendly staff. The rooms are a decent size and the shared bathrooms are kept very tidy. There is also a delicious breakfast included in the price which is a great perk for a hostel. I definitely recommend this hostel if you're looking for somewhere to stay in the centre of Lisbon. The photo attached shows the beautiful view from the room.
