When you look at San Roque Church from the outside you will think of simplicity. The plain white exteriors are simple and elegant. However, the interiors are a whole different story. The church is one of the most heavily embellished and expensively decorated churches in this world. The amazing work in ivory lapis lazuli and many other rare materials is worth admiring. Details and intricacies of all sorts make it a visual treat par excellence.
The Museum of Sacred Art is certainly worth visiting. Lovely paintings that depict the many events in Christianity have been displayed here in a very charming way. It also has an impressive collection of silverware and clothes from the royal era.

Beautiful church full of treasures. Wonderfully preserved and restored. Super creepy reliquaries with visible body parts of dead people. The museum is worth the few € extra, as it holds the most precious and beautiful world of art. Also, the museum is much quieter and calm than the church. Cliff shop inside the museum. Very calm with interior courtyard.
A really beautiful and old church. It is definitely worth seeing if you are visiting Lisbon
it's not the church itself the most interesting, but the rows of the lavishly decorated side chapels. some are abundant with carved angels and gold, others with miniature stone mosaics. the chapel of st. john the baptist was built in rome, then disassembled, transported and rebuilt in its current location.
Wow, wow, wow! What a gem. It is a shame but no surprise the Portuguese tourist businesses want to keep this to themselves. I was blown away. A must see when you come to Portugal. Lisboa card gets you to onoy pay €1 entry to the museum and dont miss this either. We spent a great deal of time in this vhurch and museum as it is worth absorbing it in as there is a lot to take in.
Gorgeous church and some interesting history. Museum is free on Sundays.
