Vasco Da Gama Bridge - Review

Vasco Da Gama Bridge is the longest one in Europe. This architectural marvel is about 16 kms long and stretches across the Tagus River. It is not just its length but also its architectural beauty that makes this bridge a sight worth seeing.

The bridge is wide enough to have 6 lanes and the number might even be increased soon. An excellent example of the modern architecture of Lisbon, this lovely bridge is a definite must see but a drive down its lovely stretch is sure to be an amazing experience too. Be sure to put this one down on your list.

Vasco Da Gama Bridge, Lisbon Reviews

  • It's long, very long, so long street racers choose it to make top speed runs at night. The view is quite interesting from it and to it. Not a must but certainly a walk under it will be quite ralecing and at night I will offer great pictures of the belly of the "monster".

  • Beautiful cable bridge lookalike of San Francisco Golden gate bridge. Well maintained neat and clean. Breath taking views of the Tagus river flowing below while crossing the bridge. Great drive lovely weather and smooth roads. Overall a nice experience!

  • Beautiful bridge. One of two briges that links the north side - Lisboa, and the south side of Lisboa. You take around 5 to 10 minutes to cross it with no traffic.

  • The Vasco da Gama Bridge (Portuguese: Ponte Vasco da Gama; pronounced [ˈpõt(ɨ) ˈvaʃku dɐ ˈɡɐmɐ]) is a cable-stayed bridge flanked by viaducts and rangeviews that spans the Tagus River in Parque das Nações in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. It is the second longest bridge in Europe after transcontinental the Crimean Bridge[6], and the longest bridge entirely within Europe, the third longest including viaducts,[7][8] with a total length of 12.3 kilometres (7.6 mi), including 0.8 kilometres (0.50 mi) for the main bridge and 11.5 kilometres (7.1 mi) in viaducts.[3] The Bridge is served by 4.8 kilometres (3.0 mi) of dedicated access roads.[3] It was built to alleviate the congestion on Lisbon's 25 de Abril Bridge, and eliminate the need for traffic between the country's northern and southern regions to pass through the capital city.[9] Construction began on February 1995; the bridge was opened to traffic on 29 March 1998, just in time for Expo 98, the World's Fair that celebrated the 500th anniversary of the discovery by Vasco da Gama of the sea route from Europe to India

  • The best way to cross river Tejo on the rush hour!
