The castle was built in 1641 as a country house. The word Keukenhof means 'kitchen'; in the Jacqueline, Countess of Hainaut used the castle's parks and the nearby Keukenhof Gardens as her herb garden. The castle has since had quite a rich 400 years worth of history. As you're guided through the interior, that history will be brought to life for you through portraits, furniture, monuments and decoration. Altogether there are five areas for you to explore: the main castle, the coach house, Frederick's Court, the court farm, and the 200 acres of woodlands surrounding the castle. When you visit the Castle, there may be a special flower exhibition at the park. It's worth checking out, especially as the fee is covered in the admission price. The food at the restaurant is pretty good, very innovative. And finally, there are events at the castle throughout the year - concerts, festivals, medieval fairs and of course, the spring flower show.

  • Outstanding beauty everywhere your eye can see! Cannot praise enough all the effort and imagination that goes in creation of this paradise on earth. Came on 12 May, one week before it’s due to close for the season on 19 May, the blooms were abundant, the displays stunning. Tips: allow yourself plenty of time for going around, I didn’t expect to spend that much time there, over 6 hours. Absolutely must go inside the pavilions! Orchids were absolutely amazing!!! Book tickets online and print them out, for both gardens and parking, they have to be scanned. Parking ticket costs 6 euros and gets scanned on the way out. Bring your picnic if you can, at least snacks. You will need it for all the walking. Food is lovely in Cafes if you prefer to buy it there. Overall I cannot recommend enough!

  • This is a must-do when visiting the Netherlands, even for Dutch people. The parking place was big enough and parking an EV is great. You park and charge in front of the entrance with 22kW (type 2). The park is nicely organized and the free maps are very handy to find your way. The different themes throughout the park are very interesting. Only a lot of times the flower identifications are missing. The expositions are interesting and I was amazed about how well the halls were air conditioned. Food is almost on every corner and is from OK to good. The choice is also good. The staff and the service is good and friendly and the pricing is OK. The toilets were in every building and cleaned well. If you want to get quick view about the Netherlands and enjoy the best flower show, here you've got all at once! And.... it will make your wife or girlfriend very happy.

  • Once in a lifetime experience. Huge variety of flowers, mainly Tulips, available to appreciate from close quarters. Very well organized and maintained. Extremely well connected by road - you can reach this place in your own vehicle or by public transport buses. There are many service providers who will charge you higher amount to get there, but you can easily rely upon public transport to get you there cheaper. Approx time for full coverage is 3-4 hours. You can spend more time if you like to be in the midst of nature.

  • Tulip paradise!!!, beautifully designed, well though very organized botanic garden. Good to spend whole day. On sunny day you can see over hundred amazing colour tulips. Nice coffee restaurants with fresh foods. For Romans or family holiday good escape. 25 minutes drive from Leiden; which is amazing city with history, bars restaurants many more attractions.

  • Incredibly beautiful, even in the rain. Could spend an entire day walking the paths and getting coffee at the cafes. If you’re into photography, there are a ton of great photo opportunities and you’ll be entertained all day. The bus to get here from Amsterdam is quick and easy to figure out. Lots of art displays and carefully cultivated gardens. Would recommend this for anyone visiting Holland.
