Little Torch Key
Currently Open- Map
Located in the lower Florida Keys, Little Torch Key is a tiny island that travelers will cross at the 28th-mile marker on US Route 1 (otherwise known as the Overseas Highway). The island also includes its sister islands, known as the Big and Middle Torch Keys. All the above-mentioned islands are named after a native tree, known as Torchwood, which is found on all three islands. The wood from these trees can be kindled even when they are wet, adding to the overall uniqueness of the island. The place also features pristine white beaches and stunning seas. As of 2009 and according to Reuters, a resort on the Little Torch Key island was named one of the "Top 10 Most Romantic Retreats."
