Fountain Of Three Carniolan Rivers - Review
If you are in Mestni Trg Square you cannot miss out the striking Baroque monument, known as the Robba Fountain or The Fountain of Three Carniolan Rivers. Built between 1743 and 1751 by a famous Venetian Sculptor, Francesco Robba, this fountain is said to be his greatest masterpiece till date. The overall structure of the monument is that of a Roman fountain with three river gods representing three Carniolan rivers - the Sava, the Krka and the Ljubljanica. The ground plan is designed in a form of ancient three leaf town seal. According to the history, this masterpiece was probably Robba’s last work. During its construction, Robba lost all his savings and after completing his work he moved to Zagreb. However, the present fountain is the exact replica of the original one which was destroyed.
Hence, when you are wandering around the square stop by and admire the magnificent work of the fountain.

It is a robba fountain, in the city centre of Ljubljana. Next to it is a city Hall where they offer many excellent excursion around a town. Sometimes in the city Hall there are interesting exhibitions suitable also for families with kids. Next to the city Hall there are plenty of restaurants and bars.
Nice historical fountain. Not too crowded so it can also be a nice meeting point :) From there you can go and explore the res of the city or sit in the nearby bar and enjoy the drink.
Beautiful baroque fountain in pedestrian zone in the city centre. Made by famuous italian sculptor Francesco Robba. The fountain is representing 3 great rivers in Slovenia. Fountain is situated directly in front of the city hall with many restaurants nearby. Unfortunately this is a copy, meanwhile the original is kept in a safe place - in Slovenian national gallery. This fountain is one of most famous landmarks and symbol of Ljubljana.
It's an amazing place. Also the prices in the market are very attractive.
The Robba Fountain, one of Ljubljana's best known Baroque monuments, also known as The Fountain of Three Carniolan Rivers, stands at the edge of the Mestni trg square. It was created between 1743 and 1751 by the Venetian-born sculptor and architect Francesco Robba (1698-1757), who spent most of his life in Ljubljana and is considered to be the city's greatest Baroque master sculptor working in stone. The Robba Fountain is modelled on famous Roman fountains. The sculptures of three river gods adorning it are believed to represent three Carniolan rivers: the Sava, the Ljubljanica and the Krka. The Fountain's ground plan is shaped in the form of Ljubljana's ancient three-leaf town seal.
