12 miles south-east of Aberystwyth, you will come across a paradise-like-place called Hafod Uchtryd. Meaning the “summer mansion of Uchtryd” in English, this gorgeous landscaped estate is located in Ystwyth Valley. While the estate was earlier used as a hunting lodge for the Welsh Chieftains, soon it turned into a beloved home for many of the noble men of the century. In the late 18th century, Hafod Uchtryd became popular as a celebrated landscape under the ownership of Thomas Johnes. During his ownership, around three million trees were planted in the estate to make it even more beautiful.
