Our experience was not too bad but you need to be careful with your stuff and be super patient with locals (they won't stop asking ). Go to the main office for the tickets and do not buy them from anyone else, only give them to the staff of the boat. For the taxi you need to get out of the main door of the port (10min walk) and you can find a Blue Bird taxi. If arriving by official taxi they will ask for money (don't give more then 2k Rp) just to cross the main door then will stop the taxi and ask you if you want a horse ride ... 😒 you an easily walk to the port form there. For us the ride was good, boat was full of people fast and the trip was less than 1h. For 5k Rp I will recommended to go to Gili T
Prepare yourself before arriving at this harbor especially if you're arriving from one of the Gilis. A couple of things to note: #1 Carry your own bag out of the boat or be ready to pay at least 10K per bag to the porter. They will not ask you whether or not you need help but will automatically carry it from the boat. #2 Camino (horse carriage) will only take you about 400 meter from inside the harbor to right outside the terminal where the blue bird taxis are waiting. Easily walkable if you can carry your own stuff. #3 Transportation inside the harbor is plenty but be careful of deceitful practices. They will offer 100K to sengigi area but you need to make sure that it's per car and not per person. Blue bird taxis terminal can be found right outside the harbor area. You can bargain for a set fare of 75k to 100k to the sengigi area.
Public ticketing going to three Gili's, trawangan, meno, air.
We did our research so we were fully prepared for the scammers... It wasn't too bad but it was raining hard so maybe that's why.. We arrived from gili air and got a taxi to senaggigi.. Here are some top tips - hold onto your bag and don't let go, they will try to carry it for you, don't let them - you'll get offered transport by everyone, just say you have a driver sorted - walk down the main road saying no thank you to everyone - just keep walking, head down, look like you know what you're doing, after 400/500m you'll see the blue bird taxis - there's no footpath so watch out for cars down this road I can imagine at peak times and when it's not mid thunderstorm this place is worse but you'll be alright, just know what you're doing and don't hang around
The Bangsal harbour, its a crowned place where the locals ask you to buy stuff and follow you around to go on there horse wagons. There's no system, you have to wait till somebody call form the speakers witch boat you have to get in. Most tourist dont understand the system, that makes it really chaotic.
