Fortnum And Mason - Review

Fortnum and Mason is an elaborate store which was once a petite grocery store in the city. The store is recognized for the quality of products it sells. The store offers a varied collection of chocolates, biscuits, seasonal produce, marmalade, and other stuff. You’re sure to spend a little more than required here as the delicious display is sure to leave your mouth watering. The pastries and sandwiches here are yum. Also, visit nearby attractions in the city which are covered in London itinerary 5 days.

  • Absolutely incredible high tea. I read the reviews and was hesitant on a few things around quality of food and service but I wouldn't believe everything you read. We had a fantastic time. Our waiter was a lovely, welcoming, chatty and friendly southafrican guy who made us feel very welcome and made our experience mean so much more. The food is incredible! We opted for the "high tea" and ate the truffle and lobster omelette and surf and turf dishes and they were rich and exquisite! Followed by deliciously warm scones with cream and preserves and beautifully presented cakes and tea! Overall A++ experience!

  • Wonderful tea and excellent service in a beautiful room. It pays to make reservations ahead of time as they are usually busy and you may have to wait otherwise. Fortnum's is wonderfully accommodating- if you'd like an extra helping of something or another pot of tea, just ask. It's all provided at no extra cost. They make a point of telling you when you sit down. Don't forget to check out the cake selection in the middle of the room. There are several different kinds- chocolate, Victoria sponge, cheesecake and a fruitcake- and all look delicious. My husband loved the chocolate.

  • Beautiful experience. Service and food are outstanding. The tea room is light, elegant with an uplifting atmosphere. We had a tea tasting for an additional 12.50 which was absolutely worth it. We had sweet and savory afternoon tea, once you finish a plate, the service will replace it with a new filled plate. I thought the cake cart was a bit disappointing, but it surely is complaining on the highest level. All in all - loved it!

  • Excellent service and the food. We tried the steak, which was just melting in our mouths. The elegant, bright and cozy design, the live piano sounds made it even more enjoyable. If you live in London or are just visiting - this is something you must experience being in this town!

  • The monumental deterioration of afternoon tea at Fortnum and Mason is in two areas. Firstly in the quality of the food and secondly in the service of the staff. The cakes from the trolley we had were stale, and so too were the gluten free scones. The patisserie were a mixture of attractive looking, odd tasting, poorly executed sweet things. The service was poor. The staff were falling over themselves literally. There was no elegance to the service as in former years. The tea order had to be repeated serveral times. A second round of gluten free sandwiches were not gluten free and when the mistake was rectified it came with a thumb print. The tea selection is reduced. This is far from a scrumptious treat. I am surprised that F & M are happy to put their name to what was served.
