  • I had a dinner here on Wednesday with the evening offer which is a six course dinner with a glass of wine. I was welcomed by the host and the waitress came over to explain the menu etc. The restaurant got quite busy and atmosphere was quite lively. The food was nice and actually filled us up. The toilets are worth experiencing as it's a proper Japanese seat that cleans itself. There is a bar located downstairs and locals come here for drinks. I had a pleasant experience here with a good level of service.

  • Part of the Jason Atherton stable, yet completely different. Have been here twice now and the menu was completely reinvented. A couple of mistakes on our order were immediately rectified and knocked off the bill. Food really interesting, beautifully presented, and delicious. Recommended!

  • We visited here for my friends birthday, and I must say that the food is very nice, although some dishes were slightly over salted. I can't for the life of me figure out, but the service felt a bit shambles - our waiter seemed extremely stressed, but was nice! Unfortunately they assumed we would be waiting for one last person to arrive which meant we didn't start eating until 1.5hrs after sitting down. The waiter also told us that he would come and talk through the dishes with us before we ordered, but that didn't seem to happen. The decor is very nice, really enjoyed the music - some form of 80s chilled out background music. Would definitely come back, but would also hope for a smoother service!

  • I do not know where to start with this review. I was so looking forward to coming here as I've read so many good reviews and was looking forward to enjoying my birthday meal. We arrived at 8:30pm and didn't leave the restaurant until 11pm because the service was that bad. The menu isn't very big which is a good thing as that means they should taste amazing but unfortunately for me that just meant I couldn't enjoy anything. I asked the waiter to recommend me some dishes as I would like to see what is the nicest dish on the menu and we picked what he recommended- bad idea. We ordered 6 dishes and there was about a 20 min wait between each dish. When I asked the waiter why its taking so long he said "the cold food comes out first and then the hot food"- this is a lie as I received my hot food before I received my salad. By this point I was fed up and starving and the food that did come out was just disappointment after disappointment. You would think that because I was starving I would eat it but it just wasn't nice. By this point the manager (I think he was the manager) came over to speak to us and I told him the whole situation and he was like I want to take one item off the bill and replace it with something else- there was nothing else I want so I thought I would go for the noodles. I mean the noodles made me not hungry anymore but £26 for noodles when there are so many noodle places that do better noodles for less than half the price. I challenged him about the cold food coming out before the hot food and he's answer was "it's true but sometimes whatever the chef prepares then it would come out". What kind of answers is that? So the chef decides what dish he feels like making for it to come out? By this point everyone around us had come, ate and left the restaurant. Trying to get their attention to pay the bill was also very hard even though there wasn't many people left. We refused to pay the service charge- I've never done this before but there was no service, it was just appalling. Then another manager came over to ask us the situation and by this point I just wanted to leave. They ruined my birthday meal and I just wanted to go home and eat. All he did was apologise but apologies do not make up for the the worse experience of my life, worse birthday meal ever. I don't ever give 1 star but this is deserving of the one star. I'm not coming back and I don't recommend anyone come here unless you have time to waste.
