  • I feel almost spiritual about the bowl of venison stew I had, so rich and meaty were its contents; amazing value for money given that I had what felt like several pounds of beautifully slow cooked deer in there. Served with freshly toasted thick wedge of bread, accompanied by a couple of well kept (if not terribly exciting) ales. Top notch proper pub with good grub.

  • 700 year old haunted pub.. great friendly service. Outstanding food especially if you like venison... recommend the venison sausages..😁😁...

  • Fascinating place. A lot of history. Has a good reputation for food

  • Very old traditional pub. Loads of stories and curiosities to be seen in each little room including a hand said to be the chopped hand of a cheating card player... Lovely and cozy. Just a bit disappointed as we told the barman we wanted to have dinner but wanted to get a drink first. So we were told to enjoy our pints in the pub area and to give you a shout whe' ready to eat. When we did so after a cigarette outside, we were told the restaurant was booked out...

  • Pub and restaurant a few hundred years old. Try the Haunch of Venison dish - excellent. Worthy of naming the restaurant after it. Toffee and ice cream dessert is excellent time too. Quaint.
