If you are looking for a campsite to spend a couple of nights under the open skies with your family, the St. Vrain State Park in Colorado’s Longmont is a must-visit. Earlier known as Barbour Ponds, St. Vrain’s offers many facilities and recreation opportunities that make it a popular camping destination. Avid birdwatchers will particularly enjoy the Park as it is home to several native and migratory species of birds. The campsite also has something to offer for hikers and those who like to fish in its vast area. The busiest times at the camp are the seasons of spring, summer and autumn, so if you wish to get there during the peak times, make a reservation beforehand.
St. Vrain State Park Reviews & Ratings
It gets one star because it is a state park and we need those. This place is a hot death march. Not one single tree. To access the water on foot it is an unstable boulder field. I was seriously concerned for my dogs health. Plant some trees!
Very nice for a state park that close to the city. Bit toasty.. I'm not sure about the reservation only approach at this State Park. And, really, why does the State of Colorado need eye and hair color for a camping reservation? Cause they also sell fishing licenses and such, but u wasn't fishing. However, the lady who took the reservation on the phone (Theresa) was very nice.
beautiful place ! lots of fish ! spacious campsites. friendly workers. wildlife here is truly wonderful
Campground is always clean. Lots of wildlife and birds to watch. Nice lakes to fish in but, because of its location it gets hit hard. Sites are the right distance apart to provide some privacy.
Highway noise. If you don't like it, don't stay here. That said, we really enjoyed it here and we don't like highway noise. If it weren't for the noise this would have been a raving review. As it is, it's "just 5 stars". The thing is, the lakes, the fishing, campsites, everything else is just perfect. Can wander for hours and not cover the whole park. General biking is good here too. And it's away from city through-traffic so even the road out is pretty quiet. We stayed here twice because we liked it so much. Definitely will stay again if we're on our way through. Now, if it weren't near the interstate? It would be a total destination location.
