Battleship Uss Iowa Bb-61, Los Angeles Reviews - Write a Review

  • Hi All! If you really interested in American history, this is fantastic place to visit with kids. It is very well maintained battle ship. You can see 5floors of ship. You will get nice details of how the life of crew is going to be in a typical battle ship. I like the cafeteria of warriors. They put so many historical information pictures inside . Very nice cabin crew bedrooms, and main officers work areas etc...When you happened to visit San Pedro don't miss out visiting Battleship IOWA. Coming to facilitate guests, it has rest rooms in lower deck floor. No food / restaurant in ship. I suggest carry water and snack. I visited on labour day weekend so I got discounted tickets $10 per head. They have portable restrooms at the entrance. They have fleet week , so food trucks are there near parking lot. Over all very good experience.

  • Fascinating weapon. It gave insight into the complexity of such ships. Unfortunately only the uppermost decks we accessible. I would have been interested in our decks and machinery. All together the ship is a real beauty (of you can call a weapon like that). Talked to some veterans and they had some awestrucking stories to tell.

  • Historic battleship BB-61 - a surprising number of spaces are open to the public, with more becoming available all the time, that really give visitors a sense of history and a feel for what Navy life on board was like. Always exciting events on their calendar, and self-guided tours let you explore at your leisure. Comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes recommended, as are a camera.

  • Such a great, historical time for people of all ages!!! From the moment you enter, there are friendly people to greet you. For kids: find the dog Victory! (They have pictures of the pup placed around the ship for kids to find and at the end, they get a free dog tag.) If you're a history buff: so much history, including President Roosevelt's suite and special head (bathroom). Have fun!!! (I apologize for the horrible photo quality)

  • The U.S.S Iowa is truly something to behold. The museum does a fantastic job of telling you the history of the ship, and pairs it with video and interviews from those who served on it. If you're in the area I cannot recommend visiting enough.
